Spring 2008 Workshops

We will be hosting workshops this spring for beginning and intermediate photographers.

Introduction to Portraiture and Studio Photography

Have you ever wanted to take a better photograph of the kids? How many friends have asked you to take their picture and you did not feel comfortable doing it so you said no?

Ever wondered what all that stuff you see at the photo studio is and how it works?

This is the workshop for you.

Introduction to Portraiture and Studio Photography will cover basic lighting setups, basic posing techniques, and introduce you to the studio environment where you have full creative control.

The next workshop will be held Saturday, April 26 from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM at our studio. There will be a one hour break for lunch on your own.

The workshops are a very collaborative event. Everyone will participate and attendees are encouraged to interact with one another. This is not a lecture.

The cost is only $75. Class size is limited to allow as much interaction as possible.

Requirements: You will need a camera that has a hot shoe and manual controls. It can be an SLR, DSLR or advanced point and shoot. You will need to know how to operate your camera.

Intermediate Portraiture and Studio Photography

You've spent so much time photographing everyone in the house and all your friends and they are now sick of you yet you want more.

Ever wonder what it is like to work with a model or how it feels to be one of those big fashion photographers you see on TV?

This is the workshop for you.

Intermediate Portraiture and Studio Photography will cover more advanced lighting setups and studio techniques including shooting tethered to a computer. You will work with a live model and direct them.

The next workshop will be held Saturday, May 17 from 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM at our studio.

The cost is only $125. Class size is very limited to allow as much time with the model as possible.

Introduction to Flower Photography

Have you ever wanted to take a better photograph of your garden? Tired of not getting pictures that seem to miss the mark?

This is the workshop for you.

Introduction to Flower Photography will cover basic to photographing flowers in their element, whether it is a garden or field. It will include advice on exposure and reading the elements to get the best from the conditions and when not to photograph.

Since flowers are so dependent on weather and climate, the next workshop date is TBD but will be held on Saturday morning in late May or early June from 8:00 AM until 11:00 AM. The location is also TBD but will probably be the Lake Harriet Gardens.

The cost is only $50. Class size is limited to allow as much interaction as possible.
